Salamander tail reattachment?

Salamanders, like lizards, often have the ability to lose a tail and regenerate another one. One a tail is cut, it may still move, but it won't reattach to the salamander. The salamander will grow another tail. It will take months, even years, before the new tail is close to normal size.
