Something stuck in the back of my throat...?

I'm not sure exactly when this happened, but for 2 days now i've had this horrible sensation of something being stuck in the back of my throat. I thought it was after I had eaten an egg, since i kind of feel as though i can still taste the smell of egg. it also brought on nasal discomfort and head pain. its odd. I tried swallowing different types of food to get rid of it, liquid, yoghurt, rough textured food. I'd rather not go wait in the ER for 5 hours just to have them stuff a tube down my throat, so can anyone tell me what I can do about this?
